Iowa. A little too fast for conditions, maybe? No serious injuries reported .

HONK people!
that guy only knew it was headed his way moments before it would have hit him, surely the crashing driver could have smashed the horn

A few years ago, there was a slight potential danger of a possibility of ice the night of an ASO performance. Somebody in the violin section said, “I’m not coming tonight if I can’t get a ride in an SUV.”

Because physics - An acquantance’s dad died pushing someone out along the interstate in about exactly the same circumstance.
The teachable moment is that t he conditions that result in one vehicle spinning off are still there for the next one coming. Be really careful when playing good samariton as there will probably be another one coming.

Dear sweet baby Jesus that is bad. I have a coworker who’s partner always suggests he drive her to work in his truck when it snows because 4WD, but her car has snow tires and his truck does not. The SUV thing is worse though.

People don’t realize that the horn is really there to say, “Holy shit, look out!” and not, “Hey fuck you, buddy.”

As it was, a few string players just didn’t show up. Of course, they’ve got about 12 people playing the same part, so if they don’t show up it’s no big deal. I’m the only person in the orchestra playing my part. I don’t have that option.

The horn is a multipurpose auditory signaling device. It is primarily used to alert
other drivers.
However, it can be used for alerting
pedestrians as well.
A quick application of the horn can be used to catch someone’s attention. Generally, two short taps of the horn is enough to alert a nearby pedestrian of your intentions, or to alert the driver ahead of you in case they may not realize they currently have the right of way.
Longer applications of the horn should be reserved for situations where imminent danger is present. For example, a longer application of the horn would be used when you notice someone backing out of a parking space and they are about to impact something.
Alternatively, you can use the horn to blare at people while you cross over the line doing 15 MPH above the speed limit because you’re not happy with the fact that someone is, in fact, obeying the rules of the road and trying to get home in one piece.

After 40 years, I feel like I’m finally starting to really figure it out. Thanks.
